Dakota aka Sundance

For those who have read the Soulkeepers Series, you might remember an exceptional character named Sundance, a Golden Retriever. Sundance was Sophia’s sidekick and the embodiment of my dog, Dakota.

This crazy, overly affectionate dog was by my side every day while I was writing and my walking partner when I took breaks. I often asked his opinion on plot development or dialogue. And he would always answer with his signature cockeyed look, and I would know–yeah, that was a bad idea.

Dakota was a wonderful dog and loved dearly by our family. Sadly, he left us too soon, reminding me that when a dog is in pain, the angels take a soul . . .
