FORBIDDEN on sale NOW!! Woop Woop!

RELEASE DAY! Forbidden: The Soulkeepers by Lori Adams

 COVER-Forbidden-The-Soulkeepers-Lori-Adams

I can’t believe this day has finally arrived! It’s a walking on air kind of day never to be repeated. There is only one debut novel for a writer, and I’m so happy that mine is Forbidden, a story very close to my heart.

Several years ago when I first began writing Forbidden, I had no idea that the paranormal genre was so popular. Big surprise on me! But what got me even more was the never-ending interest in the particular theme of Angels. (So it’s not just me :D)

There are few things that have captured and sustained my imagination more than Angels.

When we’re little, Angels are often seen as that soft idea hovering around our peripheral beliefs. Those chubby cherubs with doughy skin and serene expressions that must mean Angels are peaceful and made of downy pillows. That’s all well and good when we’re young, but it’s later when we discover how passionate and volatile and yes, even how violent they can be, that our interest really peaks. I mean, how cool is it to have an Angel of God ready to draw a sword to defend us?

Stories of Angels predate the Hebrew book of Genesis, the Christian bible, and have been found in early Sumerian texts. All across the globe, in religions, mythologies, and lore, different cultures speak of hauntingly similar beings, these divine helpers who have many names: guardian spirits, spirit guides, divine helpers, benevolent spirits, spirit messengers, etc. No matter the culture, whether they are avatars in Hinduism or devas in Buddhism, these beings are believed to come from the unseen world around us. Some are protectors who make us feel safe, guides who lead the way when we’re lost, or messengers who deliver the word of God.

But Angels are also known for their passion. Not only do they fire the imagination and inspire great works of art, they can be terrifying beings that evoke fear. They make war amongst themselves. They cast out their enemies—fallen angels—and send them to the fires of hell. They break the rules and make love to humans. They turn dark and vengeful. But most of all, they are driven to extreme measures by whatever passion they follow. Whether dark or light, blessed or fallen, their enemies are the most powerful enemies of all—each other.

It’s this passion, this ideology of Angels having free will, that I put to the test in The Soulkeepers Series. Michael Patronus, a guardian angel named after his namesake the archangel Michael, is torn between his love for a human girl and his guardian vows.

Before Sophia St. James arrived in Haven Hurst, Michael had a clear path. He would answer his call of duty to save souls while working to join heaven’s elite team of warriors, the Halos of the Son. But Michael soon realizes that Sophia has stirred forbidden emotions in him. He is tormented by his cravings, his need to make love to her. He recognizes that she is unique, that they share a bond that is both terrifying and arousing.

First and foremost, Michael is an Angel with extreme passions, extreme desires. So what extreme measures will he use to get what he wants?

He snapped to attention, his back going ramrod straight, and now his head is turning slowly, methodically, his eyes are aquamarine prisms that stare with such invasiveness I almost feel violated”

That part reeeeeeally freaked me out, I literally shivered and jumped out of my computer seat because it was that surreal and scary and your words were like so intense! : O

4 to 4.5 STARS
This is one of the best angel books I have read.
While the beginning is a little slow, the second half is phenomenal! I could not read fast enough! Sophia is new to CT and quickly finds herself drawn to Michael. However, Michael must ignore his attraction to protect her and his family’s secret. Add soul stealing demons to the mix and it’s an amazing story. Sophia, despite her age, is a strong female lead character. She is dealing with sorrow and her unnerving attraction to Michael. Michael is amazing. He is fighting the timeless battle of love vs duty.
I will be stalking the author for any information on the next installment.

I would highly recommend this book to any fan of paranormal/fantasy!

Early Praise For Forbidden

FORBIDDEN - The Soulkeepers

  Dali from TJLovesToRead’s review

  Feb 24, 14
  Read from February 21 to 24, 2014

Lori Adams is a look out for, keep on your constant radar for your next book     author.
Forbidden is one of the most gripping paranormal new adult books I’ve read since I fell in love with a sparkly creature of the night. The combination of chills, thrills, humor and sweetness plant a curiosity seed that kept me rooted to my seat and turning page after page in excitement.Being the first book in the series and in paranormal is sometimes tough. They tend to be slow going while setting ground rules for the new world, explaining terms that need to be understood and introducing and building the players involved. But Lori did an excellent job with the fresh take on an old theme. I was completely engaged while learning about it and getting to know the insatiably curious Sophia, Dante’s tortured and ever suffering soul and Michael’s goodie sweet and sexiness. She also outdid herself with the hilarious crew surrounding this trio down to the town’s people. They’re all the kind of characters you will take with you well after you hit “the end”.
Michael with Wings

The book is told from the main characters’ alternating point of view, it’s mostly told from Sophia’s very poetic perspective, which I found funny and endearing.

And even though I encountered several similarities to another paranormal series, it doesn’t matter in the overall scheme of things, because even though you’ll most likely smile and reminisce, it won’t help you predict the plot development, much less prepare you for its unfolding. It is completely different and literally heart stopping.

The book ends with a very happy non ending. Because it leaves you with as many answered as new unanswered questions that will make you want to click pre-order button on second installment if it were available.

I totally loved it.

My spirits soar on high,
Inebriated with thoughts so pure.
I now can fly,
Nothing is obscure.
Spiritual healing is taking place,
As I rise to heavens realms.
Beams of joy cover my face,
Nothing can me overwhelm.
I have seen the heavens gates,
Beautiful light paves the way,
Music sweet to soul and ear,
I have nothing more to say.

Here is another nice review for FORBIDDEN from Goodreads

‘s review

Read on March 03, 2014

First off, huge thank you to Dee from Good Choice Reading for suggestion this book because I absolutely loved it! For this book being 432 pages long, it didn’t feel like it at all to me. Once I got a few chapters in, I could not put it down! It’s one of those books where it has a little of everything and an ending I was slightly surprised at. Just loved Forbidden!

Sophie made me laugh a lot because she is so stubborn and so suspicious of everything. I really enjoyed following her through this book as she deals with Michael, Dante, her father, and herself.

With Michael, I loved him right away and his brothers. Yeah he’s quite a grouch to start, but has good reason. He’s also gorgeous with his perfect body, blonde locks, and baby blues. You can see that Michael is an all around good guy… then again why wouldn’t he be? On the other side, literally, is Dante. Both boys are hot as hell, and Dante has the dark hair and green eyes (killer for me!). As much as Dante is “bad” I couldn’t hate him because everything he does, he does for Sophia.

With this book, I actually feel like it is more YA than NA. Maybe in future books it’ll seem more NA, though not sure. The reason I say that is because the main character is in high school and there isn’t any real raunchy scenes, so don’t let the NA classification scare you away. Also, were there similarities to other books, sure, but once I got into this book I couldn’t put it down. I loved following Sophia and Michael and that’s what ultimately matters to me, a story that you cannot put down and enjoy reading. I also liked the feel of darkness this book kind of has, it helped draw me in. Overall I really enjoyed Forbidden and will be on the look out for the next book!

More Reviews coming in!!

ANINO SAYS . . .
Simply put… This book was amazing! Not only was it captivating, but it was intriguing as well. From the very beginning, Ms. Adams managed to managed to craft a storyline that was for the most part, well paced and chock full of sexual angst…At times, the emotions flowing amongst the love triangle consisting of Michael, Sophia, and Dante was so thick that you could almost cut it with a knife…
Not only were the characters well developed, but the paranormal elements were awesome as well.Other than that, my only issues with the book was a small amount of lag between the 65%-83% mark, and the absolute sheer stupidity that Sophia managed to display during one of the pivotal moments in the story. In my opinion, Ms. Adams has managed to start her series off right, and I am looking forward to either pre-ordering the sequel “Awaken” or “1-Clicking” it, once it is released.
